Paper Peter

Does anyone know what Peter Roskam has been up to? Your LakeCountyEye hasn't taken a fresh look at Peter Roskam since well before the last election.

Did you know that Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, is a blackbelt master of origami? No one knows how to paper over the issues like Peter Roskam does!

In 2013, Roskam demonstrated for the IRS how to fold a sheet of paper into a Presidential tax return:

GOP Rep. Explodes At IRS Chief, Dramatically Crumples Redacted Report: ‘This Is Junk!
Roskam, the following year, shows Hillary Clinton how a blank piece of paper can be twisted into a national scandal:

A Republican lawmaker dramatically ripped up some paper during Hillary Clinton's Benghazi hearing
The good news is Origami Master Roskam is back with some new wrinkles. Here Roskam proves that with just a few pieces of paper in hand, anyone can be made to look re-electable:

The Flannery Row

The audience at the Sixth District Congressional Debate was promised a whine-fest but got served no sparkling cabernet. No, they were served up a 60 minute sustained hissyfit from Peter Roskam:
Peter Roskam:
So the notion that we are dismissive of a misrepresentation not once not twice but three times is just tweet it oh just just delete it and go away I think that fundamentally would mischaracterize the history of having representatives who are well regarded that reflect this constituency.

The News-Sun is reporting that Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran is being criticized ...
for sexually charged remarks he made on a radio show earlier this year.

Who knew?

Well, readers of this blog knew:

The Farrago in Chicago

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum.
If political science is the sweet science, then a dogfight is a-brewin in Chicago.

Despite not being confused and disoriented, Peter Roskam agreed to participate in a debate this week. Sources say Roskam (Lake County's vestigial Congressman) chose to debate his opponent in Chicago, because Chicago is in Cook County, and his voters "never want to be anywhere near Cook County".

Democratic activists however will be there to protest:
Democrats are planning to protest at the sold-out debate between Peter and his opponent this Thursday evening in Chicago. They're planning on having over 100 people there. This is a perfect opportunity for us to show we are ready to fight.
GOP to bus in counter-protesters to Thursday’s debate, says Roskam "in the fight of his life"
In reaction, Roskam is busing in some muscle of his own:
We're also having a bus take supporters from the suburbs to downtown and back! We're meeting in Wheaton at 3:15 PM and plan on having everyone back by 7:15. If you'd like to take the bus, let us know and we'll send you more details! We can't let the Democrats' protest go unanswered, especially on such an important debate night!
GOP to bus in counter-protesters to Thursday’s debate, says Roskam "in the fight of his life"
The Democrats have a simple message, that Peter Roskam is in the pocket of his donors and out of touch with his District. So Roskam wants counter-protesters there to make sure no one gets to hear the Democratic narrative.

What could go wrong?

Operatives are advised to bring their cameras. And alert the media.

Joe Walsh for Ex-President

Which one doesn't belong?
Note to Ops: Anyone can grow up to be President. And as Donald Trump has proven, you can dispense with the grow-up part of the equation.

This fact has not been lost on shockjock and Ex Lake County Congressman Joe Walsh:
Joe Walsh, the former Illinois Republican congressman who endorsed arming toddlers recently, said Monday that he'd never support President Donald Trump after seeing Trump's joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He called Trump a "traitor."
Joe Walsh: 'I Will Never Support Trump Again'
Despite being a diehard Trumpnut, Joe Walsh broke ranks with his commander-in-chief, this week.

Is Walsh attempting to change the narrative about being punk'd by Sacha Baron Cohen on SHOWTIME? Nothing could be further from the truth. Joe Walsh, in fact, is running for President in 2020. Take it to the bank!

An Easy Marksman

AK-47 through 12
Bad news for those who can't keep a babysitter. There will not be a children's table at the next Lake County Republican 2nd Amendment Dinner and Gun Raffle.

Ex-Lake County Congressman Joe Walsh had been promoting a program to arm preschoolers with guns, called Kinder-Guardians.  And gun-owners were hoping to bring their toddlers to the next Lake County GOP gun raffle -- where some lucky little shaver would take home a pea shooter or a cap pistol or a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

Your LakeCountyEye has recently learned, however, that it was all too good to be true:
Former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh joined a growing list of conservative politicians blasting comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's new Showtime series "Who Is America?" after Walsh said he got duped into supporting a fake program in Israel providing firearms to 4-year-old children.
Former Rep. Joe Walsh explains how 'Who Is America?' star Sacha Baron Cohen duped him
The same Kinder-Guardian program that Joe Walsh had been seen promoting on YouTube now seems to be a flimflam.

Operatives who had enrolled their children in Kinder-Guardians are encouraged to contact Joe Walsh for a full refund.

Joe PWNED

Shockjock, and former Lake County Congressman, Joe Walsh may be down on his luck. Walsh is now doing PSAs for the NRA:

Who Is America?
Walsh delivers an on-camera endorsement for a program to put guns in the hands of pre-schoolers, called Kinder-Guardians.

Is kindergarten too early to acquire a rudimentary knowledge of mortars? Joe Walsh doesn't think so:
"The intensive three-week Kinder-Guardian course introduces specially selected children from 12 to 4 years old to pistols, rifles, semiautomatics and a rudimentary knowledge of mortars. In less than a month -— less than a month! -— a first-grader can become a first grenade-er."

"Happy shooting, kids."
It is unknown if Walsh has a personal financial stake with Kinder-Guardians.

A Kick in the Pence

Fiddy Pence
US Vice President Mike Pence was in town yesterday to raise money for Peter Roskam. Lake County vestigial Congressman Peter Roskam, on the other hand, was AWOL:
U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam is skipping Vice President Mike Pence's appearance Friday in Rosemont -- planning to be in Washington to take votes instead -- but Gov. Bruce Rauner will be at the event to introduce Pence, officials confirmed Thursday. Pence is expected to headline a fundraiser for Roskam and other Republicans in the area
Roskam, Hultgren to skip Pence event in Rosemont, but Rainer won't
Roskam had known about the Vice President's visit, officials confirmed.  Roskam could not attend however because he mistakenly believed the Vice President would be headlining a townhall.

25,000 Pence

QOTD:How many guns does someone take home from an Illinois GOP fundraiser for a $25,000 donation?
Answer:Ask Peter Roskam.
Legitimate businessman and US Vice President Mike Pence is in town to raise money for Peter Roskam:
On Friday, Pence is scheduled to return to the Midwest for an American First Policies tax event and a fundraiser in suburban Chicago. The vice president is advertised as the headliner for a fundraiser for Rep. Peter Roskam, whose district — carried by Hillary Clinton in 2016 — is the number one Democratic target in Illinois. An invitation to the fundraiser asks for a $25,000-a-couple donation.
Pence launches Midwest damage control mission
Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, no doubt needs the liquid assets to pay for some pricey, nautical-themed Internet ads:
If you haven't seen these ads, you need to sign-up with YachtWorld.

Easter in July

The first week of July is a national holiday in Lake County, where the voters take a day off from work and hunt for Easter Eggs.

Your 2018 Easter Egg contains Lake County Chairman Aaron Lawlor, who has logged cameo appearances in many YouTube videos.

Last year, Lawlor scored a cameo celebrity-chef walk-on in this Lake County sponsored cooking video:

The Bounty of Lake County
And who can forget Lawlor's spot-on cameo Homer-Simpson-imitation in this classic Lake County paid-for video:

Well, Mr Lawlor is at it again. Of late, Lawlor has been actively pushing back against the movement to elect the Lake County Assessor. Can you spot Aaron Lawlor's cameo appearance in this Lake County Assessor video:

I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE BUT DIDN'T!

Didn't You?
Did you know that 90% of voters when given an opportunity to vote for their township assessor, chose to sit that election out? Even more worrisome, there is another election scheduled, 4 months from now, on November 6. Don't people know that voting only encourages them to keep running?

If you are like your LakeCountyEye there is nothing you hate more than being governmental-body shamed into voting at someone's stupid election. The good news is you don't have to. Not if you have a legitimate excuse not to vote. Not to mention ten:

Election Meddling

don't ask for permission
Suppose they gave an election and nobody came? If the question was solely up to the Lake County Board, you would never know.

A Bill sitting on the Governor's desk could give you, the voter, the responsibility to elect your Lake County Assessor. Currently, the County Assessor is appointed by the County Board Chair, Aaron Lawlor.

No surprise, Lawlor is none to pleased and wants the Bill, SB2544, vetoed:
Lawlor argued that the legislation was passed with political trickery by gutting a bill and inserting the proposal in it so it could be approved in the waning days of the legislative session.
Lake County Board committees back opposition to putting assessor's post on November ballot
Not to be outdone, two Lake County Board committees turned a blind eye to their own political trickery and passed their own resolutions:
Members of the Lake County Board ignored the taxpayers who support SB2544 and chose, instead, to pass a resolution opposing the bill that included baseless accusations and turned this taxpayer initiative into a political circus by recommending that the governor issue an amendatory veto on the bill.

This Stock Will Go Through the Roof

Your hot stock buy today comes direct from Lake County vestigial Congressman, and market maker, Peter Roskam.

The Background:
Peter Roskam is bearish on Boeing (NYSE: BA).  For more than a year Peter Roskam has been ...
urging the president to block a multibillion-dollar deal between Boeing and Iran Air, "the terror-supporting transport-arm" of a network that is now facing steep sanctions from the Trump administration.
Republican Congressman Urges Trump to Block Boeing's Deal With Iran Air
The Fallout:
Unless you shorted your Boeing (NYSE: BA) you lost money:
The chief executive of the aerospace giant Boeing downplayed the fallout from the president's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear pact, saying on Wednesday that the company would abide by the Trump administration's decision to cancel Boeing's licenses to sell $20 billion of aircraft to Iran.
Boeing C.E.O. Downplays Loss of $20 Billion Contract With Iran
The Uptake:
Aerospace giant Boeing (NYSE: BA) faces fierce competition for government contracts from aerospace giant Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).

The Bottomline:
Peter Roskam says: These are unmistakably strong buy signals for Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).

Stealth Peter

Stealth this Shirt
Peter Roskam surfaced last week, only to find himself in the Eighth Congressional District.

Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, represents the Sixth Congressional District. He was in the Eighth Congressional District last week at the corporate offices of Northrop Grumman.

It should be no surprise that Roskam, who does not like to be seen in his home district, wisely chose to attend a corporate fête in a totally different Congressional District:
"I want to congratulate Northrop Grumman on opening a new facility in Arlington Heights that will employ many people in the Sixth District," said Congressman Peter Roskam.
Northrop Grumman opens new Illinois facility with ribbon cutting, reception
Northrop Grumman is an aerospace/defense contractor and manufactures the Stealth Bomber.

Roskam, impressed by the Stealth Bomber, was observed making inquiries. He wanted to know if Stealth technology could be harnessed for other purposes.  Say, for instance, a Stealth Congressional Townhall?

That's all your LakeCountyEye has. No one to see here, move along.

Telepath Townhall

An actual unretouched screencap spirited from the Daily Herald newssite:

Northrop Grumman Vice President Mary Petryszyn talks to U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam about the company's new offices in Arlington Heights during a ceremony Monday.
Northrop Grumman opens offices in Arlington Heights
Is the photo a really bad photoshop attempt to show two people talking? Nope. In reality, Peter Roskam was communicating with the Northrop Grumman executive, from a remote location, using ESP.

This is not the first time that Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, has used his psychic powers to communicate with constituents:
Republican U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam of Wheaton says he's no fan of "circus" town hall meetings and prefers a more controlled setting for town-hall-style meetings by telepathy, which he will conduct on Monday night.
Roskam says he prefers doing town hall meetings over the psychic hotline
One spokesman said: "Anyone participating in the telepathy townhall will not be allowed to ask questions. Congressman Roskam already knows which questions will be asked."

Talking to a Brick Wall

On Saturday, the group held a town hall in Naperville, where Republican congressman Peter Roskam has been a consistent supporter of gun rights and has received donations from the NRA.

Peter Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, was unavailable for comment. Embedded informants say Roskam had been quickly hustled to a new underground secure supermax location:

Disappointing the Lake County Assessor

The Lake County Assessor wars may go nuclear. A Bill waiting to be signed on the Governor's desk could allow Lake County voters to elect their County Assessor. The Lake County Assessor is currently an appointed position.

The Bill has wide bi-partisan support. One exception is Lake County Board Chair Aaron Lawlor. As Chair, Lawlor has the sole authority to appoint the Lake County Assessor and stands to lose that authority if the Bill becomes law.

Aaron Lawlor may not think that Lake County voters can be trusted to choose their County Assessor:
Lawlor said Friday that he feels voters should be "very concerned about this bill," adding that "this is not the type of office you elect someone who you'd like to have a beer with," because you want someone who is qualified.
Push is on for Rauner to sign bill allowing referendum for electing Lake County assessor
For the record, Aaron Lawlor holds an elected office, and wants to be re-elected in November:

Bunker Mentality

Note to Ops: Those hoping to meet Peter Roskam in person, may have to wait until after the November election, or later still.

Your LakeCountyEye has obtained fresh video of Lake County vestigial Congressman Peter Roskam delivering a podcast from deep within his bomb-proof bunker:

Peter Roskam -- More great news on tax cuts!
The audio of the podcast has been heavily encrypted. Certified lip readers have confirmed however that Roskam is assuring his voters that they will never be asked to sit through a Peter Roskam townhall -- not as long as Peter Roskam remains safe, deep in his undisclosed underground location.

Coming Up: Drilling begins soon on the Elon Musk Deep Tunnel to O'Hare. Experts warn that a collision with Tesla Tunnel equipment and the Peter Roskam underground bunker is "immanent".

Blame Canada

pas de train de pétrole qui explose
The Lake County exploding oil-train once again failed to explode yesterday.

In Barrington this time,
residents and commuters experienced a "perfect storm" during last night's rush hour as a Canadian National train stalled on the tracks for more than 30 minutes due to mechanical issues, blocking all four Village crossings in the 5:00 p.m. rush hour timeframe. Traffic was unable to move in any direction, causing backups throughout town and into our surrounding communities.
"PERFECT STORM" LAST NIGHT WITH CN TRAIN BLOCKAGE
The stoppage occurred on the heels of tariffs and other trade barriers imposed on Canada by legitimate businessman and US President Donald J Trump. One knowledgeable Canadian said: "This was no coincidence. If our trains cannot get back to Canadian soil we have to park them somewhere. Capisce?"

Your LakeCountyEye will keep you apprised when further developments warrant.

Taking Liberties

... and bears Oh My!
It has come to your LakeCountyEye's attention that the Libertarian candidate for Governor whose sole source of income is a generous government pension is not Cal Skinner. For the record, Skinner -- the brains behind the McHenryCountyBlog -- does enjoy a generous government pension. However the last time Skinner was the Libertarian candidate for Governor was in 2002.

The 2018 Libertarian candidate for Governor whose sole source of income is a generous government pension is, in point of fact, Kash Jackson:
He said he is unemployed and living exclusively on disability and pension payments from serving 20 years in the Navy. He's admitted in court he takes home about $4,500 a month from those benefits.

Whistle Stopped?

mums the word
Lake County celebrity whistle blower Denise Rotheimer did not blow the whistle today.

Rotheimer is witness to allegations of harassment aired publicly against some high profile elected officials.  She has also been a guest on Morning Answer with Dan Proft & Amy Jacobson. This is the same Morning Answer radio talk-show where Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said:
Um, Amy, um, I, um, not really met. She's six feet tall, got awesome skin, she's really nice looking lady. That's not bad waking up to, Dan?

Well Accuse Me

He's So Fine
Lake County whistle blower Denise Rotheimer blew another whistle this week:
Big news! The allegation that is coming out on Thursday is a game changer. When his name is mentioned ... time is up. I am so grateful for the courage that she has to go public.
Ives to attend tomorrow’s press conference about “leading lawmaker” who is “longtime abuser”
The allegation was harassment.  Rotheimer did not name names, but her finger-pointer subsequently ...
appeared on conservative activist Dan Proft's Chicago radio show the Thursday morning before her press conference.
Miller: Are Loncar claims a lot of smoke?
At the press conference, the finger-pointer said the finger-pointee ...
put his hand on her lower back and asked her if she knew "how lucky" her husband was to have a wife like her.
She says Lang ‘harassed’ her — he dismisses her as disgruntled pot profiteer
It has come to your LakeCountyEye's attention however that the person accused of harassment was not Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran ... even though Curran had said this on Dan Proft's Chicago radio show:
Um, Amy, um, I, um, not really met. She's six feet tall, got awesome skin, she's really nice looking lady. That's not bad waking up to, Dan?

Low on Kash

Dough!
It has come to your LakeCountyEye's attention that the right-wing personal-responsibility candidate from Lake County who is being sued for child support is not ex-Congressman Joe Walsh. No, this Lake County right-wing personal-responsibility absentee-father is gubernatorial candidate Kash Jackson:
A Lake County judge ordered a Libertarian gubernatorial candidate from Antioch to pay his ex-wife more than $10,000 in past medical and education expenses for his children. Before Thursday's decision, Grayson "Kash" Jackson told Judge Joseph Salvi he isn't making the money to cover the $12,559 in arrearages awarded to his ex-wife for day care, medical, education and extra curricular activities expenses.
Judge orders Libertarian candidate for governor to pay ex-wife over $10,000 in support
To be sure, $12,559 is small potatoes when compared to the over $117,000 that Joe Walsh owed back in his salad days. State law however dictates that Lake County voters get no more than one favorite-son deadbeat-dad to vote for, per election. And Kash Jackson will be on the ballot in November. While shock-jock Joe Walsh will be (everything else being equal) only on the radio.

Note to Ops: Walsh settled his child-support claim after he was elected to Congress, which draws a salary of $174,000:
Joe Walsh Settles Child Support Dispute With Ex-Wife
When Lake County favorite-son Kash Jackson is elected Governor of Illinois he will draw a salary of $177,412. Will it hurt to give just once, this November?

Wither Winderweedle

See you in the funny pages.
Appearances to the contrary, Kash Jackson is not the name of a character in the new Stormy Daniels movie. No, Kash Jackson is is the name of Lake County favorite-son and candidate for Governor:
Kash Jackson of Antioch is running as the Libertarian candidate for governor in Illinois.
Father's rights fuel Antioch Libertarian's bid for governor
With a name like that, the walk-card almost writes itself!

How does one go about acquiring a sexy ballot-name like Kash Jackson? Not by accident, apparently, either of birth or any other way.  Kash Jackson ...
legally changed his name from Benjamin Winderweedle to Grayson Kash Jackson in 2017.

You may want to think twice before signing the paperwork. A ballot-name like Winderweedle comes along once in a lifetime. Could you resist casting your vote for the guy named Winderweedle? Your LakeCountyEye could not.

One political scientist however did tell your LakeCountyEye: "This might work out well for Kash Jackson. He doesn't need to recruit a suitable Lt Governor candidate to be his running-mate. He can run on the Jackson-Winderweedle ticket. Who would suspect anything?"

Young Guns

Little Neddy, Grab Your Gun
It has come to your LakeCountyEye's attention that the three teens taken into custody after firing a stolen gun in public were not the same three teens taken by Congressman Peter Roskam to a closed-door meeting on gun violence.

The one group of three pro-gun teens were stopped early this week by Woodstock police:
Three teens were taken into custody Sunday after one of them fired a stolen gun in Woodstock, authorities said.

While the the other group of three pro-gun teens were with Peter Roskam, two weeks ago, for a discussion with high school students about school shootings:
In addition to the six students from Glenbard North, South and West high schools, five of whom originally requested the meeting after the town hall, Roskam added three pro-gun rights students from Wheaton Academy to the closed meeting — something the town hall students said they did not expect.
In closed-door meeting, Roskam brings pro-gun rights teens to talk gun violence prevention with students
A careful inspection of publicly available reports does show that the first trio of pro-gun teens and the second trio of pro-gun teens are different trios of pro-gun teens.

Your LakeCountyEye regrets the error.

Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child

I was five and he was six we rode on horses made of sticks.
If you keep a loaded handgun in your car ... and if two boys break in and steal that handgun ... and sell the gun to another teen ... who fires the gun in a public square. Then you may be a redneck.

Haha, point in fact, you may be from McHenry County (where some 5,000 concealed carry permits have been issued).

According to the Daily Herald:
Three teens were taken into custody Sunday after one of them fired a stolen gun in Woodstock, authorities said. Two of the teens, ages 14 and 13, had broken into several vehicles over the weekend and found a handgun in one of the cars, which they sold to a 17-year-old for an undisclosed amount of money, according to a news release from the Woodstock Police Department.

One spokesman had a cautionary warning: "Anyone planning to randomly discharge a weapon in public, should at least take a class at a McHenry County target range. You're going to shoot yourself in the foot anyway, and will appreciate a trained professional nearby."

Your LakeCountyEye will keep you apprised when further developments warrant.

Raise? No Objections!

What does $90,000 get you these days? Not a County Board Chairman. At least not in Lake County.

The Lake County board raised the salary of their Chairman from $90,000 to $100,000 last week:
Chairman Aaron Lawlor's county board seat is up for election in November. His base annual salary is $90,931 and rises to $100,931 with an auto allowance and liquor commissioner stipend.
Lake County Board members' pay frozen, but chairman gets a boost
Is one county board chairman worth $100,000? This Lake County Board Commissioner thinks so:
"It's a full-time, demanding position with a great deal of responsibility," board member Chuck Bartels said.

So true it is, with great power comes great responsibility. And those responsibilities include sorting through discarded pharmaceuticals:

Hired Guns?

Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just keeping calm?
Rule #1 in politics: Never bring a knife to a gun fight. And if Peter Roskam is any indication, never bring a knife to a high school debate, either.

Haha, this week Peter Roskam met with high school students to discuss gun violence. But Roskam (Lake County's vestigial Congressman) failed to tell anyone that he would be bringing along some pro-gun students:
One month after declining to participate in a 6th Congressional district town hall on gun violence prevention organized by area high school students, Republican U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam met with a group of teens to discuss the topic in a closed-door session Saturday in Wheaton. In addition to the six students from Glenbard North, South and West high schools, five of whom originally requested the meeting after the town hall, Roskam added three pro-gun rights students from Wheaton Academy to the closed meeting — something the town hall students said they did not expect.

Note to Ops: To date, Peter Roskam is the only Illinois politician known to take his gunsels to work with him.

There's No Business Like Tow Business

How many times has this happened to you? You want to make a generous campaign contribution to a law enforcement official, but you can't. All because that law enforcement official prefers to do business with your towing company.  And not with other towing companies.

If this is you, the Daily Herald is getting wise: In Island Lake, the Police Chief,
village board members only recently learned, has been dipping into the patronage playbook to quietly reward a former campaign contributor with an exclusive towing contract without giving the village board an opportunity to vote on it.
Editorial: Bad government again on display in Island Lake
The good news is that you can still make that fat campaign contribution to that law enforcement official, without any sourpuss watchdogs making a big stink:

But that would be wrong.

Stop the Bus!

The future's comin', and there's no place to hide!
Question of the day: When the Tax Cut Bus rolls through a toll plaza, is it required by law to stop? One thing is certain, a national bus tour funded by the Job Creators Network will not be stopping anywhere near Peter Roskam's hometown:
Democrats that insist the Trump Administration's recent tax reforms are helping only the rich and powerful are ratcheting up pressure on Republican members of Congress that supported the measure. They effectively shut down the "Tax Cuts Work!" bus tour scheduled stop in DuPage County Sunday where Congressman Peter Roskam was scheduled to speak.
"TAX CUTS WORK!" HOLDS RALLY IN WAUCONDA, AFTER CANCELING IN WEST CHICAGO
Opposition groups had planned to protest the Tax Cut Bus when it stopped in Peter Roskam's Congressional District. Sensing danger, Roskam, Lake County's vestigial Congressman, quickly turned tail and ran.  His office issued a statement:
The Job Creator's Network made a decision to cancel Sunday's event due to security concerns and Congressman Roskam respects that decision.

Tick Tick Tick

Don't let this happen to you!
The Lake County exploding oil train failed to explode. Again.

According to the Pioneer Press ...
A freight train derailment Wednesday afternoon near Mundelein forced delays on Metra's North Central line. The track where the derailment occurred is near Allanson Road and is owned by Canadian National, which rents track time to Metra and coordinates shared use.

Unlisted Numbers?

Did you hear the one about the McHenry County GOP committeeman who posted on his blog his bank account and routing numbers?  He wanted to generate some interest in his checking account.

Haha, true story.

No, really.  True story this time.

It is a marvel of the Internet: anyone can go online and buy just about anything with nothing more than their bank account numbers.  An ACH payment is made, electronically, transferring money from buyer to seller.

Note to Ops: guard your bank account numbers like your credit card numbers. Or you could end up like the McHenry County Township Highway Commissioners Assoc -- and one day discover your bank account numbers posted on the McHenryCountyBlog.

Your LakeCountyEye has learned there is a cancelled check image from the McHenry County Township Highway Commissioners Assoc on the McHenryCountyBlog. And the bank account numbers are plainly visible:
It is not for nothing that the McHenryCountyBlog is known for being the sunshine blog!

With numbers like those, any unscrupulous McHenryCountyBlog reader could go online and buy additional guns. Or his prescription opioids. Or Stormy Daniels videos. Or whatnot.

See for yourself. Your LakeCountyEye blurred the numbers on the check image above, but the actual unretouched picture can be seen here:
Xmas Gifts Listed on Algonquin Township Credit Card
This bears repeating: Anyone can fraudulently obtain goods and services on the Internet.

But that would be wrong.
