Come for the Munificence Stay for the Election

Brummagem President Donald J Trump failed to Stop the Steal, and that may be because he was looking in the wrong places. Trump should have been looking for voter fraud in Old Mill Creek.

As readers of this blog are aware, back in 2019 ...
Shelter in a Place to Call Home
There's No Shelter in Place Like Home
Odd Bedfellows
Home Court Advantage
Gift Horse
there were some odd bedfellows registered to vote at the Old Mill Creek Mayor's home. Along with the Mayor, the house is the residence of 2 other voters -- where County assessment documents seem to indicate that neither live within the Old Mill Creek Village limits.

Your LakeCountyEye has new documentation indicating that they are still registered to vote at the Mayor's home, and that they voted in the 2020 November election:
There is a consolidated election on April 6 and the Old Mill Creek Mayor along with 3 Trustees will be on the ballot. In a micro-municipality like Old Mill Creek, and during an off-year election in a pandemic, 2 votes can be your margin of victory.

Who will the the people registered at the Old Mill Creek Mayor's home be voting for? No one knows. Your LakeCountyEye will keep you apprised when further developments warrant.

HaHa, J/K ... as if.

It's Not Who You Know

What are the odds that Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher will challenge State Senator Dan McConchie in the 2022 Republican Primary? A betting man would ask Casey Urlacher.

HaHa.

Urlacher, who challenged McConchie in the 2016 Primary and lost, was under Federal indictment for being mixed up with an illegal sports betting ring. But Uhrlacher was pardoned by President Trump last week. And now Dan McConchie is none too pleased. He said:
"Pardons should be done on the merits of the case, not based on a relationship with the President. This sort of practice undermines the public's faith in our system. We're supposed to be a nation of laws, not one based on people getting benefits just because of who they know."
Last-minute pardon of Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher raises eyebrows
Note to Ops: If you are looking for some of those benefits, it won't hurt to know Lake County moneybags & maga-donor Dick Uihlein. Along with donating millions to right-wing extremist organizations, Uihlein gave State Senator Dan McConchie $13,300, some of which nodoubt helped McConchie beat Uhrlacher in the 2016 Primary.
One neutral observer told your LakeCountyEye: "This sort of practice undermines the public's faith in our system!"

Uline U Pockets

If it seems like Lake County has been going to hell, that may be because money is the root of all evil. Lake County moneybags & maga-donor Dick Uihlein has been spending quality-time with his checkbook:
Dick Uihlein, the chief executive of the Uline shipping company and a contributor to the Koch donor network, spent at least $2m getting Josh Hawley elected to the US Senate and has contributed more than $4m to the Tea Party Patriots, another one of the 11 groups listed as participating in the Stop the Steal coalition. In 2019, more than $20m was funneled through DonorsTrust, a donor-advised fund that disguises the source of major giving to nonprofits, to a dozen organizations that would ultimately contest the integrity of the 2020 presidential election, including $103,000 to Tea Party Patriots.
The Capitol riot wasn't a fringe 'uprising'. It was enabled by very deep pockets
Uihlein money may have financed the DC Capitol mob, but this fact has not deterred one clean-shaven Lake County politician. State Senator Dan McConchie pocketed $13,300 from Dick Uihlein:
Note to Ops: Beware the company you keep -- unless of course that Company is ULINE.

Make a Federal Casey Out of It

I beg your pardon.
Overheard while cutting to the front of the mimosa line at the Lake County GOP Mayors unity brunch:
"Pardon Me"
HaHa, Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher picked up his Get Out of Jail Free Card this week:
The last-minute pardon of Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher by outgoing President Donald Trump has brought raised eyebrows, but no explanations. Urlacher, the 41-year-old younger brother of former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, was among 73 individuals pardoned by Trump during his final hours in office late Tuesday. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2020 on allegations he took part in an illegal sports gambling business.

Have Gun Can't Travel

Buy Local Or Bye Local
The McHenry County gun owner who shot himself in the foot last week failed to be from McHenry County:
A pair of Lake County sheriff's deputies are being credited with saving the life of a Mundelein-area man who accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday.

The Revolution Will Be Capitalized

To be sure, there is an old saying in Lake County ...
Follow the Money
but the trail always leads to Lake County moneybags & maga-donor Richard Uihlein:
A billionaire businessman from the Chicago area has been the primary source of political funding for an ultra-conservative group that participated in the "March to Save America" rally that preceded last week's deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, documents show. Dick Uihlein — the Republican mega-donor who lives in north suburban Lake Forest and is CEO of the Uline business supplies company — has contributed nearly $4.3 million in the past five years to the political action committee of the Tea Party Patriots, including $800,000 in October, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Sock It To Me

Your LakeCountyEye obtained this candid photo of the tireless theocrats at the McHenryCountyBlog with their new sock-puppet:
The sock-puppet, Johnny, has been tweeting up a storm. Johnny recently told the chairwoman of the ILDCCA to "put a sock in it":
In related news, no one in McHenry County shot themselves in the foot today.

Behind Barr

Note to Ops: The video does not show Dick Barr at the Trump rally last week in Washington DC. No, the video was filmed in Schaumburg:

Stop the Steal -- Jan 3 -- Schaumburg
Confirmed Lake County Commissioner Dick Barr posted a video of himself at a January 3 Stop the Steal rally in Schaumburg. Barr is seen marching with Proud Boys and other Pro-Trump activists.

Dick Barr is the District 3 County Board Member. Lake County Board meetings are held in the County Building in Waukegan. Provided that an angry mob hasn't already ransacked the place.

Your LakeCountyEye will keep you apprised when further developments warrant.

Game Ober

old and older
Read the shocking truth why Jim Oberweis was not barricaded in his Congressional office on Wednesday while rioters stormed through the Capitol:
Oberweis is not a Congressman!
HaHa, born-loser cow-magnate Jim Oberweis wants Congress to overturn the 2020 election, just as bad as sore-loser chick-magnet Donald J Trump does.  And to pull it off, Oberweis filed legal documents just as bad as Donald J Trump does:
Oberweis seeks to overturn election
To pull it off, Oberweis secured the legal services of Lake County GOP Chairman, Mark Shaw:
Oberweis' attorney in the matter is Mark Shaw, chairman of the Lake County Republican organization.
Already sworn in, Underwood disregards Oberweis' attempt to toss election results
Rudy Giuliani apparently was not available.

Maybe When Hell Freezes Ober

cowcatcher
Following a 60 minute phone call from Ex-US President Donald J Trump, Fantasy-Play Congressman Jim Oberweis is determined to bury the 2020 election results in one of his farm slurry pits:
Defeated Republican congressional candidate Jim Oberweis has informed the U.S. House of Representatives he will contest the outcome of his race
Beaten Congressional Candidate Jim Oberweis Seeks To Overturn Election Defeat By Incumbent Lauren Underwood
It is unlikely that a Democratic controlled US House will overturn the results in IL District 14. Particularly now that no one is listening to Oberweis anymore, back in Illinois.

However, one official-sounding spokesman said: "Jim Oberweis will take his case to the Galactic Senate, and all the way to Emperor Palpatine if he has to."

Your LakeCountyEye will keep you apprised when further developments warrant.

The Left Hand Doesn't Know What the Right Hand is Doing

Hop to it!
The last McHenry County gun owner to shoot himself in the foot in 2020 failed to shoot himself in the foot.

Police officers found ...
that a 30-year-old man had accidentally shot himself in the hand while he was cleaning his gun at his home
Lake in the Hills man accidentally shoots self
One McHenry County Gun Guy said: "We've been trying to reduce self-inflicted gunshot wounds below the waist by asking our owners to pull the trigger with their toes."

Summers Games

Is it 2021 yet? You bet it is and that means you're overdue for another LakeCountyEye Master Class™:
How to Lie Like They Do in the Chicago Tribune Creepy Political Cartoons™
This installment features the Creepy Tribune Cartoonist's Crazy Uncle™, who will illustrate the art of spreading COVID-19 disinformation:

FAKERY #1

People who stay inside are less likely to contract COVID. But those who die from COVID are more likely to have had underlying conditions. And people with underlying conditions are more likely to stay inside -- either out of necessity or choice.

So cite the death percentage instead of the infection percentage:

FAKERY #2

Most COVID contacts never get traced because the virus is often asymptomatic plus there is no money for contact-tracing.  Of the small percentage of contacts that do get traced, a smaller percent of these will be from restaurants.

So just cite whatever lowball number you can come up with:

FAKERY #3

Does anyone think lockdowns will stop the virus?  Of course not.  Lockdowns are intended to slow the spread of COVID-19.

So attack lockdowns because they do not stop COVID-19:

FAKERY #4

Just flat-out lie if you have to:
CDC quietly removes guidance pushing for school reopenings

FAKERY #5

Do you believe in science? Who doesn't? A magnifying glass will make you look like a scientist:

Note to Ops: 100% of Nobel Prize winners surveyed say they would sign up for a LakeCountyEye Master Class!
