It's Not Who You Know

What are the odds that Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher will challenge State Senator Dan McConchie in the 2022 Republican Primary? A betting man would ask Casey Urlacher.

HaHa.

Urlacher, who challenged McConchie in the 2016 Primary and lost, was under Federal indictment for being mixed up with an illegal sports betting ring. But Uhrlacher was pardoned by President Trump last week. And now Dan McConchie is none too pleased. He said:
"Pardons should be done on the merits of the case, not based on a relationship with the President. This sort of practice undermines the public's faith in our system. We're supposed to be a nation of laws, not one based on people getting benefits just because of who they know."
Last-minute pardon of Mettawa Mayor Casey Urlacher raises eyebrows
Note to Ops: If you are looking for some of those benefits, it won't hurt to know Lake County moneybags & maga-donor Dick Uihlein. Along with donating millions to right-wing extremist organizations, Uihlein gave State Senator Dan McConchie $13,300, some of which nodoubt helped McConchie beat Uhrlacher in the 2016 Primary.
One neutral observer told your LakeCountyEye: "This sort of practice undermines the public's faith in our system!"

Frankly, all of this does more than “raise eyebrows”. It makes you throw up a little in your mouth. It underscores our area “moneybags” are buying off public officials. Standard operational procedure.
