A Bad Week Already for Mark Kirk
Just Got Worse

Mark Kirk might take heart that today is humpday. It's Wednesday which means there are at most two days left in a 7-day news cycle where Team-Kirk has watched their message, in a downward spiral, spin out of control.

Rich Miller observed the local editorial writers have turned on Kirk ...

This is the first time in Kirk’s long career that he has received the trifecta of newspaper slams on the same day.
Digging a hole in the ocean
The trifecta in question being the Op-Ed pages of the Tribune, Sun-Times & Daily Herald. Since no one bothers to read any of these papers, especially their editorials, your LakeCountyEye has not bothered to provide any links. (Operatives, you are instructed to find them on your own. It's not hard.)

Kirk was also the butt of a Rachel Maddow joke. A Senate Bill is pending that would make it a crime to publicly air a false statement about one's military service. Its author, Orrin Hatch, intended the Bill to embarrass a Senate candidate, Richard Blumenthal. But Rachel Maddow notes that the Bill, if passed, would also make Mark Kirk a criminal ...

Kirk Lie Puts Hatch in Awkward Spot
Of course Rachel Maddow is easy to ignore. But take note, Team-Kirk, when you lose the Tribune Creepy Cartoonist™, you may want to think about recalibrating the campaign message ...

Chicago Tribune, 06/02/2010
Operatives, you may be asking yourselves Why does Kirk have that itty-bitty little head?

For your LakeCountyEye's money, it's the suit that makes the man ...
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile,
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife,
And you may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?

Once in a Lifetime

This LIE went on for almost TWO YEARS!

Back in August 2003, he was only claiming to have served several weeks on active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom but then in December of 2003 decided to ’stretch the truth’ and say he was ‘in’ the Operation. This went on until August of 2005 when the information was changed and the word ‘in’ was changed to ‘during’. It also included the fact that he served ’stateside’. Below is a short summary of his archived websites and how they changed over time:

Aug 2002
service in the Office of Naval Intelligence during Operation Desert Storm (1991).

4-17-2003 (started misreporting the award)
The U.S. Navy named Kirk ‘Intelligence Officer of the Year’ in 1999 for his combat service in Kosovo. Kirk also served as an air crewman over Iraq as part of Operation Northern Watch

8-6-2003
He also spent several weeks on active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom

12-25-2003 (then the lie begins)
He is the only member of Congress to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was an air crewman over Iraq during Operation Northern Watch.

10-25-2004 (new website, and the lie continues)
The U.S. Navy named Kirk ‘Intelligence Officer of the Year’ in 1999 for his combat service in Kosovo. Kirk flew on missions over Iraq and continues to serve one weekend a month in the Pentagon. He is the only member of Congress to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was an air crewman over Iraq during Operation Northern Watch

8-25-2005 (almost two years goes by before the lie is corrected)
The U.S. Navy named Kirk ‘Intelligence Officer of the Year’ in 1999 for his combat service in Kosovo. Kirk flew on missions over Iraq and continues to serve one weekend a month in the Pentagon. Kirk is the only member of Congress to serve stateside during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was an air crewman over Iraq during Operation Northern Watch.
