I hope the drivers hitting and wrecking the bridge are ticketed, and claims made on their motor vehicle insurance.
Maybe Long Grove should just have the bridge moved to a park or forest preserve, so people CAN'T drive oversize vehicles on it. Either that or some system of pylons or other barriers laid out so that small vehicles can navigate through, but not anything bigger than maybe a work van can get through the serpentine maze.
I'm not local to LG, but won't somebody think of the bridge?? :)
